The Anne King Sullivan Collection focuses primarily on life from her early childhood living in the Rice Hotel through school, college, study in New York City, debut, courtship, marriage, and life with Maurice J. Sullivan and their seven children. There are records of her activities in groups such as American Institute of Architects (AIA) Auxiliary, Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre, Catholic Woman's Club, St. Agnes Alumnae, St. Joseph Hospital, and Altar Societies. She corresponded until late in her life with many relatives, priests, and nuns. There is a collection of letters from each of the seven children and some of their own children as well as a range of ancillary items that illustrate how widely the family was involved in all aspects of Houston society.
Maurice J. Sullivan was a prominent Houston architect and his professional correspondence containing designs, architectural plans, and other items are housed in the Architectural Component of the Houston History Research Center of the Houston Public Library. The Anne King Sullivan Collection was solicited to be a companion collection to his papers.
