Welcome to the Houston Public Library A/V Archives! Our mission is to provide broad access to the Houston Public Library’s audiovsiual materials through on-line presentation and searchable metadata, preserve archival resources by providing a digital means of accessing content, and promote the discovery and use of our unique special collections. Digital preservation makes it possible to catalog, search, and browse valuable archival collections in new and innovative ways while saving the original materials from wear and deterioration. The Houston Public Library A/V Archives includes audio visual material from the following repositories, libraries, and special projects: African American History Research Center, Family History Research Center, Houston History Research Center, Bellaire City Library Digital Archives, and Astrodome Memories.
