Welcome to the Houston Public Library Audio and Video Archives!

Our mission is to provide broad access to the Houston Public Library’s archival collections through online presentation and searchable metadata, preserve archival resources by providing a digital means of accessing content, and promote the discovery and use of our unique special collections. Digital preservation makes it possible to catalog, search, and browse valuable archival collections in new and innovative ways while saving the original materials from wear and deterioration.

The Houston Public Library Audio and Video Archives is in the process of migrating our audio/visual collections into the Aviary platform. While this is occuring we have collections avaialble on our Digital Archive. To search additional materials not on this platform please search here: Oral Histories and Sound Recordings and Moving Images

The Houston Public Library Audio and Video Archives includes archival material from Houston Public Library's Special Collection Libraries, community partnerships, and special projects. Please send any questions, comments, or additional feedback by emailing the Special Collection Library the material belongs to.
