The Greek Community Collection features materials documenting the lives of members of Houston's Greek community, especially those that immigrated to the Houston area. This collection includes oral histories conducted in 1981 that documents the struggles of Greek immigrants in their new country, prejudices they encountered, and their roles in establishing a Greek Orthodox Church in Houston. It also includes photographs featuring individual portraits, family portraits, and family gatherings, as well as photos of activities in local Greek organizations such as American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), Greek American Progressive Association (GAPA), Daughters of Penelope, and Sons of Pericles.
The finding aid for the collection can be found here: Collection: Greek Community Collection | Houston Public Library Archives (lyrasistechnology.org)
