Her parents gave her the idea and inspiration to make contributions to the community by participating in volunteer activities. Mrs. Pressler was involved with the Junior League and worked on several committees and eventually served as its president from 1943-1944. Mrs. Pressler was also a member of the River Oaks Garden Club and served as its president from 1959-60. The River Oaks Garden Club maintained the Bayou Bend Gardens and completed many other landscaping projects. The Garden Club also established the Bayou Bend endowment fund in part from proceeds from the popular and financially successful Azalea Trail tours and pink elephant sales. Mrs. Pressler was also a member of the Harris County Heritage Society which worked to preserve and restore historic houses. She became president of the society in 1963 and served for two years.
